Committer member Maeve Delargy commented on the importance of the OUTLaw network and events that hope to foster inclusion of LGBT+ indivduals and allies:
“Having an event like this with so many high profile individuals from the legal world in attendance is very important. It shows that the leaders in the professional care about LGBT+ inclusivity, which is great for individuals who are LGBT+ but also for everyone working in law. A large-scale collaborative event like this sends a message to the public that, while it has its traditions, the legal world is not the conservative place they may consider it to be.
“The law in this country has changed for LGBT+ people and OUTLaw is the legal community saying that it welcomes LGBT+ people, both as colleagues and clients.
“OUTLaw supports, celebrates and encourages diversity in the legal profession in all its guises and hopes that the launch of this network will help in the creation of a country where everyone is facilitated to live as their full selves both under the law and in the law.”
There is no charge to attend. However, as spaces are limited pre-registration is essential. Please click to RSVP and register via Eventbrite, or contact [email protected].
